We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Group Leader to manage our Metrics Platform for Observability, serving thousands of customers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Kafka, Rust, Object Store, and JavaScript, extensive leadership experience in managing development teams, and working closely with product teams. This role requires a dynamic individual capable of driving the strategy, development, and execution of our observability platform.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage multiple development teams, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and support to team members.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the teams, ensuring effective delivery of high-quality solutions on time and within budget.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture, ensuring alignment with the company’s goals and vision.
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of the metrics platform for observability, which serves thousands of customers at scale.
- Leverage your expertise in Kafka, Rust, Object Storage, and JavaScript to guide architectural decisions and hands-on development when necessary.
- Ensure the platform's scalability, reliability, and performance meet the highest industry standards.
- Collaborate with DevOps teams to maintain continuous delivery pipelines and ensure the health of production systems.
- Ensure the development teams are aligned with product roadmaps and business objectives, focusing on delivering features that enhance customer experience and platform observability.
- Drive the strategy for monitoring and observability across the platform to provide real-time insights into the system’s health and performance.
- Ensure robust metrics collection, visualization, and alerting systems are in place to detect and respond to issues proactively.
- Continuously evaluate new technologies and methodologies to improve the platform's observability and operational efficiency.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience leading multiple development teams.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and grow engineering teams.
- Proven experience working with Product teams in a collaborative, agile environment.
- Deep understanding of metrics collection, monitoring, and observability best practices at scale.
- Experience in developing high-scale platforms serving thousands of customers.
- Proficiency in Kafka for data streaming and event-driven architecture.
- Experience with object storage systems such as AWS S3 or similar.
- Solid understanding of system architecture, distributed systems, microservices, and cloud-based infrastructure.
- A proactive problem-solver with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with distributed systems and large-scale infrastructure.
- Knowledge of front-end technologies (React, Angular, or similar) is a plus.
- Prior experience with observability tools such as Prometheus.
- Experience working in a cloud environment (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
