The Position
OPSWAT is seeking a Linux Application Developer to join our NetTAC team. This role focuses on maintaining and optimizing system services, updating and integrating software packages, and ensuring the stability, security, and performance of our Linux-based application services and operating environment. You will work extensively with Python (both 2 and 3), MySQL, Bash scripting, and other system-level technologies to support and enhance our Network Detection and Response (NDR) and network traffic analysis platform. Additionally, you will contribute to the ongoing modernization of our system architecture.
What You Will Be Doing
- System Maintenance & Optimization: Maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize Linux-based services and applications to ensure reliability and efficiency.
- Software Updates & Integration: Update, build, and integrate system software packages, ensuring compatibility and security.
- Python Development: Utilize Python (both 2 and 3) to develop, maintain, and optimize system utilities and backend services.
- Bash Scripting: Develop and maintain Bash scripts for automation, deployment, and system management tasks.
- Database Management: Work with MySQL and other databases to manage data storage, optimize queries, and ensure data integrity.
- Performance & Security: Monitor system performance, apply security updates, and implement optimizations to improve stability and scalability.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with system administrators, DevOps engineers, and software developers to support and improve system functionality.
- Transition Support: Contribute to the evolution of our technology stack by assisting in the migration of legacy systems and services.
What We Need from You
- 3+ years of experience in Linux application development and system integration.
- Proficiency in Python (both 2 and 3), including experience with common libraries and tools.
- Strong knowledge of Linux system administration, including package management, service configuration, and performance tuning.
- Proficiency in Bash scripting for automation, deployment, and system management.
- Experience with MySQL or similar relational databases, including query optimization and database management.
- Ability to troubleshoot, optimize, and maintain system services and applications.
- Effective communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Strong problem-solving abilities with an emphasis on system efficiency and security.
It Would Be Nice if You Had
- Experience in the network detection and response or cybersecurity sectors.
- Familiarity with modern CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
- Exposure to modern technologies such as Kafka, Go, Rust, Parquet, Iceberg, and NoSQL databases.
- Experience with UI development, including Angular.js, JavaScript, and front-end frameworks.
- Knowledge of PHP and experience working with LAMP stack applications.
- Experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
