The Position
At OPSWAT, we’re on a mission to protect the world’s most critical infrastructure. As a U.S.-based cybersecurity leader, we’re expanding our R&D footprint in Hungary — and we’re looking for a Data Scientist to join our team working on one of our most strategic solutions: Proactive Data Loss Prevention (Proactive DLP).
Proactive DLP can help enterprises to prevent potential data breaches and regulatory compliance violations. Trusted by governments and global organizations, we are at the heart of secure data movement — and we’re expanding its future in Veszprém.
You’ll take part in designing and building the backend services that power our secure file transfer platform, working closely with engineers, security experts, and researchers.
As part of our cybersecurity-focused company, you will play a crucial role in testing cutting-edge software solutions aimed at protecting critical infrastructure from cyber threats. Your work will make a real impact—defending the digital front lines of industries, governments, and essential systems around the world.

What You Will be Doing
- Apply modern technologies and techniques to identify trends in large, complex, structured, and unstructured data sets, that are cybersecurity or malware related.
- Solve a wide range of file/data analysis problems: data classification, data clustering, deep learning, model optimization and shipment etc.
- Design, develop and employ tools and processes for training & testing AI models.
- Collaborate with product teams to identify, develop, and test out new ideas.
- Establish end-to-end ecosystems to store, extract, and organize data, and predict cyber security relevant trends and insights.
- Build and nourish a culture of data-driven decision making, influencing the mindset of colleagues and management as well.
What We Need from You
- Degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering, AI or equivalent.
- Solid understanding of optimization strategies, ML algorithms, training & testing, performance analysis and evaluation methodologies.
- Programming expertise in some relevant language (Python, C++).
- Ability to present findings, work both independently and within small groups.
- Strong attention to detail and an ambition to learn & experiment with new things in the field of cyber security.
- Experience in AI and ML development and operations (MLOps) is an advantage.
- Experience with cloud computing (AWS preferred) and edge computing in the context of ML and AI is nice to have.
