The Position
At OPSWAT, we’re on a mission to protect the world’s most critical infrastructure. As a U.S.-based cybersecurity leader, we’re expanding our R&D footprint in Hungary — and we’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team working on one of our most strategic solutions: MetaDefender Email Gateway Security (EGS).
MetaDefender Email Gateway Security is a business-critical solution that ensures safe and compliant email communication by detecting and preventing sophisticated threats before they reach or leave the mailbox. Trusted and deployed by governments and global organizations worldwide, it plays a vital role in securing digital correspondence — and now, we’re building the next chapter of its innovation in Veszprém.
You will contribute to the design and development of the backend, working together with a team of talented engineers and security professionals. As part of our cybersecurity-focused company, you will play a crucial role in developing cutting-edge software solutions aimed at protecting critical infrastructure from cyber threats. Your work will make a real impact—defending the digital front lines of industries, governments, and essential systems around the world.

What You Will Be Doing
- Plan, design and develop cyber security software, specializing in processing Emails
- Follow up and implement solutions that meet acceptable risk of OPSWAT and customers
- Design and review specifications/code/database
- Implement, document and test new versions of the product
- Product maintenance
- Write and maintain test cases on multiple levels
- Provide inputs and documentation of new or existing features
- Partner with your agile team members on delivering sprint commitments
- Work with local and remote engineering teams to deliver on quarterly goals
- Troubleshot problems with customers
What We Need From You
- Strong command of modern C++ (preferably 17/20/23)
- Hands-on experience in system and database design (Postgres will be preferred)
- Hands-on experience in C# and TypeScript is an advantage
- 5+ years programming experience in multiple projects for Windows and/or Linux
- Understanding and interest in information security concepts
- Expertise in multi-threaded programming and memory management
- Good command of spoken and written English
- Good skills in version control (preferably Git)
- Experience with containerization and working in QT framework is nice to have
- Experience with REST API utilization and SDK integration would be an asset
- Hands-on CI/CD experience (preferably TeamCity)
- Experience with Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence will be preferred
- Experience with Agile / Scrum working environment
