JOB SUMMARY
We are looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer highly skilled with JavaScript (TypeScript) and at least one frontend framework to join our Product Engineering team at Storyblok. In this role, you'll go beyond feature delivery: you'll drive domain-level improvements, lead complex technical initiatives, and act as a key reference point for frontend engineering decisions across multiple projects. You will have technical ownership of a frontend domain and help shape how we build and scale our product.
You'll work closely with engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to break down ambiguous problems, define technically sound approaches, and raise engineering standards across your domain. If you're someone who cares deeply about code quality, scalable architecture, and helping those around you grow, this role is a great fit.

- Ship marketable features for Storyblok app using modern web technologies (e.g TypeScript, Vue, Vite, etc).
- Own the end-to-end Software Development Lifecycle, from reviewing product requirements to deliver the software reliably to customers across disciplines.
- Take technical responsibility for a frontend subsystem (domain), ensuring long-term maintainability, scalability, and reliability.
- Identify systemic risks and architectural bottlenecks within your domain and drive remediation proactively.
- Break down ambiguous technical problems into clear strategies and executable implementation plans.
- Raise engineering standards through thorough code reviews, documentation, and technical guidance.
- Write technical design documents for domain-level initiatives and communicate trade-offs clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Contribute hands-on in critical areas where technical depth is required, including refactoring, performance improvements, and security considerations.
- Mentor engineers across projects, helping grow technical ownership and capability within the team.
- Help Engineering Managers make informed technical decisions by providing clear context and recommendations.
- Identify and address long-term technical improvements proactively, balancing short-term delivery with system sustainability.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- A degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 6+ years of relevant experience as a Frontend Engineer.
- Proficiency in modern frontend technologies (e.g., JavaScript, TypeScript, Vue.js, React, or similar frameworks).
- Thorough knowledge about JavaScript/Typescript languages and their modern syntax and features.
- Solid understanding of web fundamentals: HTML, CSS, browser APIs, performance, security and accessibility considerations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of software testing concepts (testability, regression, unit, integration, test automation) and testing frameworks e.g. Cypress and Playwright.
- Familiarity with CI/CD workflows and the ability to monitor test pipelines and escalate issues.
- Experience leading complex technical initiatives, including writing technical design documents and driving cross-team alignments.
- Proven ability to mentor peers and contribute to a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical decisions and trade-offs to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders.
